Second safest city’s all nude club robbed at gunpoint

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Oh, how our hearts bleed for the poor owners of Stiletto’s all-nude strip club, who were robbed at gunpoint early this morning by two menThe robbers tied three employees up before making off with $10,000 from the safe, in addition to the manager’s jewelery, including a Rolex watch.  Both robbers were described as Hispanic males, 25 to 35, standing 5′ 10″ tall, and weighing about 200 lbs.

There is no word on whether or not the robbers told the all-nude dancers to empty their pockets.

Who here wouldn’t care if this place closed for good? Sound off below.

Nanuet man sentenced to 25 years in stabbing

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

A Clarkstown code enforcement official was brutally stabbed in April of 2007 while photographing disused cars parked on the lawn of the Trojan household on Jerry’s Ave in Nanuet.  Russel Trojan, the attacker, was convicted of second degree attempted murder and sentenced to 25 years in state prison.  According to the Journal News, Trojan, 51, was a former Nanuet Civic Association activist.  It is unclear what his motive in the attack was, or what the circumstances leading up to the attack were. Supreme Court Justice Catherine Bartlett sentenced Trojan to the maximum allowed by law.

Vehicles broken into, robbed in Nanuet

Friday, July 18th, 2008

At least a dozen vehicles were broken into over the last two weeks, their contents looted, by what police believe are a group of local teens. The thefts all occured after dusk and before dawn, in such a small geographic area that the perpetrators were almost certainly on foot. Residents reported the thefts on Highview Avenue, Fremont Avenue, Prospect Street, Freedman Street, Jerrys Avenue, Steep Hill Road, Will Rogers Lane, Bittern Drive and Thorne Lane. The perpetrators made off with GPS devices, cell phones, a laptop, iPods, sunglasses and coins.

Yes: coins. That’s how pathetic these people are.

Armed men rob Bob’s Furniture

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Early this morning, two men forced their way into Bob’s Furniture on Route 59 near Hutton Ave at gunpoint after a cleaning woman unlocked the door to let another cleaning woman inside.  The men displayed guns and proceeded to tie up the cleaning woman while the manager was ordered to open the safe.  Unfortunately, neither witness was able to provide any useful information aside from a cursory description of one of the assailants, described as a black man in his late 20s standing approximately 5′ 10″ and weighing 160 lbs.

The robbers made off with about $20,000 in cash and checks.  Despite that the entire event was caught on various security cameras, police have no leads, and could not even confirm whether or not the robbers left in a vehicle.  Police believe the men crossed the street and drove off from there. Still this demonstrates the futility of the pervasive surveillance state at actually stopping crime.

Brett Vasquez, an 18 year old man from New City, was arrested today on charges that he struck a 17 year old male from Nanuet with his vehicle during a dispute between teens from Clarkstown South and Nanuet high schools.  The Journal News describes it as an “accident”. Perhaps they should elaborate exactly what was accidental about it?

The incident escalated and Trojan stabbed the inspector multiple times with a kitchen knife before being subdued by a neighbor. The inspector was hospitalized but did survive. Armed robbery? In my second safest city? It’s more likely than you think.

Friday, May 9th, 2008

An armed robbery happened at 3:20 am in Nanuet last night. Four men in a silver car, carrying a handgun, robbed a man of his wallet. Strangely, police recovered the handgun at the scene, meaning that somehow the robber left the gun behind.

We applaud the incredible self-discipline of the victim to not recover the gun himself and use it to mow down the robbers in a Scarface-esque hail of gunfire.

Strangely, we didn’t see this one in the Journal News!
